We recently launched the Mylocum Healthcare Summit, entitled ‘Trust Me, I work in the NHS’. A platform for healthcare enthusiasts to share their valuable learnings and experiences. We aimed to build a stronger healthcare community and we are glad we achieved that. One of our speakers, Nurse Aylin, is a GPN SNN ambassador. She aims to raise the profile of GPNs and uses social media to promote them to every day and night nurse, NQNs, and students.

Patient Care Challenges


  • Dealing with a diverse patient population

General Practice Nurses encounter individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and languages. This diversity brings with it unique challenges, including overcoming cultural and language barriers. Communicating with patients with limited English proficiency or different cultural beliefs requires patience. It requires understanding, and the use of interpreters when necessary. Additionally, addressing health literacy challenges is crucial. As some patients may struggle to comprehend medical terminology or complex care instructions.



  • Managing chronic conditions

The prevalence of chronic diseases is on the rise. It poses significant challenges for General Practice Nurses. They are at the forefront of managing these conditions and providing long-term care.
