Dr. James has always loved going on holidays from a young age with his father who was in wildlife tourism and the safari industry. Which made him want to travel the world, he has visited 74 countries to see their natural beauty and see incredible animals on the way. Africa turned out to be his favourite and special place in his heart when he was growing up. Dr. James says, “African wilderness is fascinating and gives you a sense of freedom and a relationship with nature.” Due to this in 2015 he decided to complete Field Guide training with the African Guide Academy in Okavango Delta Botswana, where he worked for a few months as an assistant guide on one of the campuses they have there.

For this love for wildness, whilst studying at University he started to have an interest in Expedition and Wilderness Medicine where he got to complete 2 pre-hospital in the French Alps. Dr. James then got an incredible opportunity to be a speaker at the World Extreme Medicine conference based on the topic of Dangerous Flora and Fauna.

Sometimes give advice on how to manage your anxiety and give resources of places you can go and seek help from. She did an episode talk for the YOD podcast series called Surviving to Thriving – How to overcome mental health stigma to seek support, which is to help know the value of therapy, and the importance of being curious about yourself like why acting and thinking about the way you do. There is plenty more that she discusses in the episode, go listen to it now!

We love her because we always talk about mental health in our blogs and social media posts. This is a really important topic that everyone is aware of but they just don’t know if they have it or they are too afraid to go ask someone about it.
